The Revive Centre is a registered charity called Revive Healthy Living. It was designed by the community, for use by the community, as well as business and other community organizations. The Charity is run by 12 trustees of which 8 are local residents and 4 more are from our partner agencies. The trustees meet monthly, however, the trustees and partners can be found helping out around the centre.
Revive is a very exciting project and much of the credit needs to be given to those residents who have shown such dedication and commitment in bringing Revive to where it is today.
The centre is a new approach, to providing health services, it's a unique development and is a flagship project for Derby, the East Midlands and also nationally. Genuine local ownership of the project has come through residents' role in owning and managing the Revive Centre through the creation of the Revive Company and also the Charitable Trust.
The funding for the centre came from a number of partner agencies which are:
- New Deal for Communities
- East Midlands Development Agency
- Sport England
- European Regional Development Fund
- Derby and Derbyshire Economic Partnership
- Derby PCT's
The Revive Centre was designed by Redmak Architecture and Urban Design in partnership with local residents. Redmak are community architects with skills in involving and interpreting the views of local people and have extensive experience in environmental design.
The centre was built by Hallams Contracts and was chosen by a panel of 15 people which again included 9 residents. Throughout the build Hallams undertook to make sure that 10% of the workforce was local residents. The Centre is a building of architectural merit that the whole community can be proud of with lasting civic value. The Centre is a superb design, sympathetic to its surroundings whilst being contemporary and high quality. The centre is designed as one community space with a shared reception and a wonderful entrance that is welcoming and user friendly. The centre provides spaces' for a range of services and activities.
Revive intends to be a best practice example of integrated service planning and delivery, with agencies located all under one roof. This will allow ease of access to services, reduction in duplication, joined up working, and responsive services that is people centred. Strong links are being developed with partner agencies.
