The Derwent Disability Support Worker
The Derwent Disability Support Worker will be able to provide access to FREE information and advice on topics, including:
- Benefits Advice: form filling, benefit checks, and specialist advice with appeals and benefit refusals. Appointments may be necessary for some benefit advice.
- Disability Discrimination Act Advice, on Employment and Goods & Services.
- Direct Payments Support and Payroll.
- General Information: Transport, holidays, equipment etc.
- Access to grant based funding for individuals.
- Training, Learning & Working.
How Will These Services Work?
We intend to provide these services in a variety of ways:
- Home visits: if you can't come to us we will come to you!
- Outreach sessions: at different locations around the Derwent area, look out for posters and articles in the Derwent newsletters.
- Telephone Advice.
- Face-to-Face: at Beaufort Business Centre; please call to make an appointment.
But How Will This Service Help Me?
If you are disabled, or have a health condition, or you are a friend, relative or carer, you can contact us and ask any questions you want. Perhaps you are interested in claiming Disability Living Allowance (DLA) but are not sure how.
Maybe you'd like to find out what other benefits you could be entitled to.
You may feel you are being discriminated against at work because of your disability and need someone to support you talking to your employer.
Perhaps you need information on how to gain access to services you need.
